(Aug 1) The second half of my trip from downtown to Penn Station.

dog urinal
The suburban hydrants are all painted yellow. I like this better.

i love it not
Even the buildings want to be loved

birds are evil dinosaur progeny
How inviting

damaged, though
This undoubtedly is a Jim Power mosaic.

grace church
When these churches went up, they were probably the tallest things around. Today, they seem small indeed.

creepy, yo
Patriotism meets Halloween

this is what amazon.com eats
A relic that will doubtless soon be gone

get your super-expensive produce here!
Passing through the farmer’s market

it sure is shiny though
The statue of Andy Warhol for no apparent reason

no longer the tallest in the city though
Empire, revealed

city rats don't hang out and chill
What have we here?

i wonder who's behind it?
The hoax of the day

but it's cheap to feed
This faux rat probably ended the day stolen

Then back to the land of ‘meh’

And into October, my last month in Brooklyn for now…

steel drums
This guy wasn’t annoying. That’s pretty good praise in regard to subway musicians. In theory some entertainment down there should be a good thing, but really, it’s not.

I’d been thinking about him again a lot, due to my impending move.

It really was been all about him for a long time.

zombie sign
This does not constitute proof that crazy sign person is not in fact, a zombie

smith st.
Smith St. and I go way back. I used to pick up shampoo for my boss at the salon 2 doors down back in another life.

yay for terrorist threat alerts
Since the subway system has been crawling with cops, it didn’t surprise me to see the mystery machine turned on at Union Square. I gather it sniffs the air for something, but that’s about all I know.

walnut log
Then back out to the sawmill for a day to turn this walnut log into boards

trimming or art?
This reminds me of this

walnut boards
Unfortunately a big part of the log had been ruined by carpenter ants

I finally got a good shot here on a swing through Park Slope.

(August 15) I met Tony at the Union Square farmer’s market to look at tomatoes. The mission was specifically about tomatoes, but also any other sort of business built around nature’s bounties.

There were a fair amount of tomatoes here, but none you’d call a bargain.

coffee bar
Other ideas came to mind as well.

bugs don't dig the cedar
I’d been thinking about this myself.

This seemed out of place somehow.

shiny building

gotta be a gehry (it is)
On sight, I thought “That’s gotta be a Gehry”, and indeed it is. I was unaware of either the building or who IAC was. Sorry Barry.

the river that protects us from new jersey
Looking out across the Hudson River

chair art
The practicality of New York

table art
Functional public art. Have a seat next to Tony.

With Adam in town for a rare visit, we went out to dinner at Sala 19.

$80 worth of wine?!
Larry knows Tony knows food.
And that every word Tony tells you is absolutely true.

mmm. bacon!
It was discovered that bacon defeats vegetarianism.

red yellow red
Lunar New Year! I should get pictures in Chinatown…

I’ve never paid any attention to this before.

I’ve been out of the house twice this week, and yet there’s new photos…

marilyn monroe
Happy Inauguration Day, Mister President,…

subway musician
He seems to be here all the time, must be profitable.

thirsty kitty
Delilah helps herself

under surveillance
It’s not safe for mice in this apartment.

Everyone in the room owns a Macbook except me.
