(March 14 & 16) I am now a 5 mile walk to the train. Woe is me.
The journey starts out in Miller Place.
Off in the distance, you can see the smokestacks from the Port Jefferson Power Station, a few blocks from where I lived for eight years.
The geese are safe from Michael Bloomberg here
It looks a lot more rural here than it really is
No hunting. But really, it’s suburbia, honest!
Someone had a really lousy day.
Lousy enough to make them very angry. But that didn’t change the fact this is a very dangerous road.
And the weathervane has gone down again
Apple’s on fire! … just kidding. Maybe Tony stopped by.
I passed by the House of Viza, but he was not there.
The flowers seem somehow much larger this spring.
Every now and then, I escape back to the city where I belong.
Instead of being the train home to Brooklyn, now it’s the train to the city.
The number of drunks and bums Father Frank’s homeless shelter attracts to the area seems to have steadily risen over time. Now they’re passed out all over the train station day and night.
I prefer this city greeting to the drunks sprawled out on the platform in Port Jeff
Hello ESB, my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again.
The Endless March of the Yellow Cabs
It is now safe to walk uphill.
(August 14) And finally… the footbridge.
This bridge crosses just about everything except the water.
Had it been further back, it would have crossed that as well.
And down the other side. I found these steps particularly difficult to climb because of their layout.
Nobody expects robots in the Bronx.
The outside of the Hunts Point Ave. 6 Station.
They should have spent more money on the inside of the station instead of the outside.
(May 31) Went back out to take in the event known as Manhattanhenge.
A small crowd gathered here at the bridge over 42nd St.
Back down at street level, slightly after the event
There’s a good view of the Chrysler Building here
And then it was over, until July.
I needed to try and come up with some ideas, so last week I went bridge-walking. I ended up walking off at the end of the bridge and all the way home. Only generated one interesting idea.
The journey this time, started on the Manhattan side.
I find the parts of the bridge over land are actually more interesting views.
The one thing you don’t get a good view of from the bridge, is the bridge.
I like how the light reflects off the water here.
The bridge portion of his trip “officially” ended not at the gift shop, but at (the outside of) Junior’s.
