(Jun 16) I have been busy. Busy is neither good nor bad, just busy.
So many things nailed to this pole …. that absolutely no one cared about.
This is not at all what I expected when I decided to shoot this scene
Now this, is what I was looking for
This view will never be the same
Not because of the demolition and coming construction
But because the man whose office this was for 30 years has died.
(May 21) As soon as I saw Prime Ave, I knew I was back in the old hood. I lost my mainframe virginity in that neighborhood.
I didn’t recognize the area, just the sign
We used to come here to de-stress from writing code, at lunchtime
Always interesting to note WWI plaques always assumed there’d only be one world war
It’s surprising how much I don’t remember about the place
But the willows, those I remember
These Long Island stone bridges are of a certain era
These are apparently an invasive species
But now we’ve pretty much seen it all
Time to go. Shall we do it again in another 25 years?
And finally, we arrive at the place of my former employment. The data center was where “Elite Sports Performance” is now. You entered through the two-story building to the left.
(Nov 7) Some of the earliest posts here got accidentally lost, but at this point, p s e u d o r e a l crossed the decade line some time ago. The template used here and some points of site style bear the distinct marks of 2003. Late 2003 had the feeling of impending change. Late 2013 feels much the same to me. Not quite as much, but it’s there. I don’t think this site is going to change much. It’s part chronicle, part hobby, part excuse, and finally, though there’s probably not much here that qualifies as art, as a whole, the site is at some level, a long-running art project.
I visited the infamous phallically named rat hole where a glorious train station used to be.
We got the first snow of the season
Is an early snow a sign of things to come?
(Oct 20) If you knew me, you’d think I’d have been here already, or that I’d have gone with Viza. You’d be wrong on both counts. On this particular Sunday afternoon though, I went to the NYC Transit Museum with Preed.
It starts with the story of digging
Preed tried his hand at manual labor
Today’s Game: “Where’s Tesla?”
I’ve never actually seen one of these for reals before
Stupid people? Ironic? Perhaps just well-trained.
Wrigley’s spells an ad that wouldn’t pass standards and practices today
It’s amazing how long they stuck with wicker seats
Paul seemed deeply interested in these
(Oct 19) Preed came to town. So much happens when he’s here. Much much more than happens in several months lately.
Sometimes the signs are unclear.
We visited the Museum of the Moving Image, in Astoria. I forget what this thing is,
but the model is very elaborate
Another reminder of the Honeymooner’s. The second one recently.
Ken needs to make sure Barbie doesn’t end up alone with Shatner
No photos at the Breaking Bad “exhibition” wedged into a corner
