(Dec 22) I’ve been having health problems. As a result, December has gone by and nothing much has happened. December is usually slow, but the warm weather means things are actually still moving along around here.
I was in the city to attend a business party
Apparently someone in this neighborhood really loves weed.
I have a feeling nobody but me likes this one
I don’t remember Wall St. having a tree. Is that new?
(Aug 1) The second half of my trip from downtown to Penn Station.
The suburban hydrants are all painted yellow. I like this better.
Even the buildings want to be loved
This undoubtedly is a Jim Power mosaic.
When these churches went up, they were probably the tallest things around. Today, they seem small indeed.
A relic that will doubtless soon be gone
Passing through the farmer’s market
The statue of Andy Warhol for no apparent reason
This faux rat probably ended the day stolen
Then back to the land of ‘meh’
(Aug 1) A trip to see a client downtown. I walked back up Broadway as I have many times before, knowing this time, like the other times, would be different from any other time.
Seen passing through Jamaica Station… WTF.
They abbreviate all the bad things. Coincidence?
I need to find out what this is
It’s still a surprise anything ever got started
I set out after visiting a client, and passed through City Hall Park
Thomas Schütte
“Memorial for Unknown Artist”
Elmgreen & Dragset
“It’s Never Too Late to Say Sorry”
I left the park, heading up Broadway….
Beverly Pepper
“Manhattan Sentinels”
The blimp was out filming the golf tournament that was clogging my trains with obnoxious drunk fratboys and former fratboys.
(That spot annoys the shit out of me, yet I’m not going to fix it.)
I grew up with these all around.
These were in a garden approaching Atlantic Ave. & Flatbush Ave. I had to look twice to believe what I was seeing.
The gardens on Carroll St. in Carroll Gardens really do remind me of suburbia.
Typical of MTA construction, it’s going to take so long to complete, they changed all the permanent signage on the whole line.
This however, is not part of what they’re going to be fixing.
(September 20) Dragged myself to Software Freedom Day Party at Limewire, having pitched it all week to various parties. A few hours walking around with my bad back was enough, but it was well worth going.
The rooftop at Limewire is suh-weet,
The view ain’t too shabby either,
Met some new interesting people, like Paul Garrin,
Saw familiar interesting people, like Forest Mars and Sunny Dubey,
Saw friends, like Tony_M, (right)
I finally “met” people I already knew, like Dave Williams,
And finally saw the bathrooms Jay Sulzburger spoke so avidly of.
