(May 26) One theme that may or may not be apparent here is that I’ve been photographing a lot of controversies. This exhibit became controversial within days of being removed after having been installed months ago, thanks to the presence of a piece representing someone portraying themselves as Che Guevara.
“Che Guevara”
The image of Che is still controversial it seems.
You’d never guess this given what a pop culture symbol his face had become.
“Caesar”
“Dali Woman”

No Dorkbot for me this month. Larry invited me to tag along at an art exhibition.
On the way to the Armory, I passed this collection of dismembered cattle.
Apparently you could go inside, but there wasn’t time.
There were paintings.
There were naked women.
There were machines.
(click on this one to see it in action)
There were skulls.
There were anatomically correct sleeping figures.
There were skeletons.
And there were people.

(August 16) Yes, I am still posting about August 16th. (I finally remembered to tag the DUMBO photos though) The day that started out as a small trip to DUMBO to snap a few photos of the Revs sculpture before it is stolen into the private market, didn’t end with me walking back from the mural and heading straight to the York St. Station. Upon seeing one of the Manhattan “waterfalls”, I decided to go visit the trees that are being killed by the Brooklyn Bridge “waterfall”.
As it turned out, the place was full of photographers
Under the Brooklyn Bridge, on the shores of the East River,
you’ll find Brooklyn Bridge Park
Lots of people were sitting around here listening to the waves
The park is presently full of artwork that has a “recycled feel” to it
There’s lots of great views of the Manhattan Bridge here
It seems to be a popular destination and hangout
There’s also a lot of good views of the Brooklyn Bridge
As I would later find out, this seems to be the place to have weddings
The MetLife blimp was in town
Finally, I reached my destination, the trees being poisoned
by the spray from the “waterfall”
And there’s the tree killer, caught in the act
This thing (“(untitled)”) reminds me of candy dishes for some reason
That green dot is me, the dark spot is “(untitled)” above.
This ends my story about August 16th. I just realized I forgot to post my trip to Prospect Park in July. I guess that’s coming next.

(August 16) haven’t been in DUMBO in any reasonable sense of the word since Manhunt in DUMBO back in 2005. It feels like much longer than three years ago. My intent was to take the subway to York St., and walk a couple of blocks over to see the Revs and Kaves mural. Unfortunately for me, the due to subway construction, I had to get off at Jay St. Fortunately for me, I happened to have my GPS receiver in my backpack. What followed was an unexpected trek through Downtown Brooklyn through to DUMBO.
Off to the F station at Carroll St.
Emerging in Downtown Brooklyn

Thank You For Being Special!
I think this was outside the Engineering building at Polytech

Back when I used to sell shampoo in the city during the mid 1990’s, you couldn’t turn your head without seeing the handiwork of Cost and Revs. After being arrested, Cost had had enough. Revs however, now creates metal sculpture works, which are cut off and sold into private collections. Bastards. On Saturday (August 16), I decided to make a trip to DUMBO…
“Death From Above” Wall by Revs and Kaves
“Death From Above” Sculpture
How long before the sculpture is stolen? History says, probably not long.
